Fund Raising

There are several ways you can get involved with the Vale of Llangollen Canal Boat Trust:

  • Become a volunteer crew member
  • Organise a fund-raising event or hold a raffle
  • Include Canal Boats for the Disabled in your will or make a gift in memory of a loved one
  • Make out a Deed of Covenant for a fixed sum every year or make a straight donation
  • Tell your friends, neighbours and colleagues about the trust

If you would like more information on any of these please use the Contact Us Page to get in touch

Here are some examples of fund raising activities

We have always received support from the local community for which we are very grateful. Groups such as the Fron Ladies, Eirwen Jones and Cantorion Collen and many more have put on fund raising events on our behalf from the very beginning. We recently received:

  • £265.00 from the Singing Festival held at the Llangollen Methodist Church during Eisteddfod week.
  • Albert Dunlop, the Vice-Captain of the Vale of Llangollen Golf Club, raised £264.00 from members at his Vice-Captain’s competition day.
  • Richard Davies, a local farmer, did a sponsored walk and raised £400.00.
  • Mrs Chris McCallum, who used to live in New Brighton, Minera, and enjoyed watching the boats on the canal, remembered the Trust in her will and we were pleased to meet her sons and their wives who came to scatter her ashes and present us with a cheque for over £4,500.

These are just examples of the generosity of local people.

We were delighted that once again Eirwen Jones organised a Christmas concert for the Trust. As usual it was held at the English Methodist Church, Princess Street, Llangollen. It featured the Cantorion Collen Singers conducted by Eirwen and guest soloists. The concert was supported by Barclays and all monies raised went towards supporting the Trust and its work.
